The Great Crash of Monday
Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram all took a fabulous dump this morning. The migration to Twitter could be heard on the horizon like a massive running herd of American buffalo. Hear the rumble? I read people bought more data thinking it was their service, others uninstalled and reinstalled their apps. I was just going into FB to read a message someone sent when everything went sideways, then got tired of waiting for it to load, so went to work writing again. It was on the way to drop the grand off at school that I heard on the radio that a whistleblower just outted FB to the SEC, and then the lightbulb in my dusty old attic of a head went on -- oh, so that's what happened! Maybe, maybe not, but it's too great to be a coincidence, innit it?
Why does it almost feel good? Liberating. I mean, if ever there was a distraction to distract those of us with ADHD and severe procrastination issues, old FB and cohorts have got to be it.
Poor old Zuck is pooping himself right about now, so are a couple billion other people.
*Update: Just read on Twitter that the entire world is unable to get on FB except for Iran. It just gets weirder considering Iran supposedly doesn't get FB.
lol. that is kind of delightful.
ReplyDeleteI feel this way too. It was as if this great burden was lifted. The psychological implications of this are too scary to entertain. Off to fold laundry that has been sitting in a basket for a couple of days . . .
