Words & Expressions. And Perfume.

Words and expressions. I just read a statement on Facebook today made by someone I don't know, who sounded (in writing) like they knew what they were talking about until they wrote, 'I give the thing a respectful "wide birth."' And now I'm seriously confused. Did they intentionally write it like that, misspelled and now with a questionable meaning, as a joke, because there could be a joke there, or were they using the quotations because they intentionally misspelled the expression, or were they using an expression they rarely use or did they not know what they were writing at all? It's a 'wide berth', meaning "ample space or distance to avoid unwanted consequence". What does 'wide birth' mean? Nothing good, I'm sure. Potentially very painful as well.

These are the things that distract me throughout my day.

Yesterday, as promised, I made a batch of Witch's Tea soap and to my delight, it turned out perfectly. And it's green. Dark, mossy, witchy green, a shade or two darker than Elphaba's skin, closer to the skin color of the Egyptian god Osiris. The scent is incredible. It is warm and milky and rich with jasmine green tea notes and spices. I added a sprinkle of poppy seeds over the top because poppies are a witch's plant, used to cause confusion. The addition suits the theme. Having said that, no hocus pocus was worked on this soap, so it won't confuse anyone with bad intentions or bad spirits, it will just make them smell good while they're being, erm, bad.

Now, because of how gorgeous the Witch's Tea scent formulation smells, I'm going to create a Witch's Tea solid perfume. A bit of tweaking and manipulation of the spice notes, and October will see two Witch's Tea offerings. As the rose amber solid waits in the wings undone since early summer . . .

As usual, yesterday was a writing day and one hour of research and rabbit hole diving produced 300 whole words. Today it has to produce 600+ or I will fall even further behind schedule, and there's a full calendar today, from prepping and packaging soaps ready to go up on Etsy, to packaging and shipping orders, which entails a drive to the post office and co-mingling with people, to writing down the bones of the next incense and starting with the base materials, to taking care of domestic chores. Which also requires leaving the house and co-mingling with more people.
